Multiplication Year 6

At Practise Maths, you can learn to multiply at your own level for Year 6! Our website allows you to practise multiplication through various maths exercises and maths games. Choose in advance what you want to practise and adjust it to your level. For Year 6 long multiplication, it’s important that you master all the times tables first. At Practise Maths, you can practise the tables from 1 to 12 for free. You can also challenge yourself by selecting multiple tables. Each exercise consists of 15 different problems. If you get 13 problems correct, you’ll also see your time score at the end. The game is designed so you can quickly restart the exercise. Practise as often as you like to beat your time and improve your maths fluency!

To enhance your skills, you can choose from different maths games that will challenge your maths fluency and test how quickly you can solve problems. For example, try the interactive maths game Bouncer, where you need to bounce a colored ball as high as possible by solving matching color problems along the way. At the end of the game, you’ll receive a high score to try and beat next time!

How does it work?

Practise Maths was created by a teacher from the Netherlands, focusing on the needs of each student. The goal is to improve children's maths skills in a fun way through maths games and exercises.

Additionally, the platform is very accessible, as it is offered completely free of charge, and this will remain the same in the future. This means you can practise Year 6 multiplication whenever it suits you.

Curriculum

In Year 6, children should be able to multiply and divide large numbers and apply the appropriate methods. The skills they need to master include:

  • Multiplying four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers using long division.
  • Dividing four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers using long division.
  • Solving multi-step problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and explaining why they choose a particular method.

At Practise Maths, you can practise these skills, especially multiplying and dividing two-digit numbers. Once you’ve mastered that, you’ll find it easier to solve long division problems. This way, your child will be well-prepared for Year 6 and the corresponding SAT!
