Multiplication Year 1
At Practise Maths, you will learn to practise your multiplication skills for Year 1. You can learn to multiply through maths exercises and maths games. Before you start an exercise, you can choose from a variety of multiplication tables. For example, you can start with the 2 times table. If you find that table easy, you can move on to the 3 or 4 times table. You can choose from all tables up to 12, and you can even practise tables combined together. Each exercise consists of 15 questions. If you answer 13 of these questions correctly, your time score will also be displayed. Not satisfied with your time score? Try to improve it! When you improve your own score, a green bar will appear to show your success.
To make practicing Year 1 multiplication even more fun, you can choose from several maths games. There are a total of 6 games available. Before you start a game, you can select which tables you want to practise. For example, you can play the game Moon Blaster, where you shoot enemy UFOs in space! You can earn bullets by solving maths problems correctly. At the end of the game, your score will be displayed, and you can compare it with your classmates’ scores.
How does it work?
Practise Maths was developed by a teacher for Dutch practical education, focusing on the needs of the student. The goal of the platform is to improve children's maths skills in a fun and accessible way.
The platform is completely free to use, and it will always remain so. You can practise the tables whenever it suits you.
Curriculum
For Year 1, the following is expected of you: You will learn to count in steps of 2, 5, and 10 and connect this to the idea of multiplication as “repeated addition.” For example, you know that 3 × 2 is the same as 2 + 2 + 2.
Practise Maths mainly focuses on improving maths fluency. This helps you learn to calculate faster and smarter with the 2, 5, and 10 times tables. This is made possible through fun games and exercises. This way, we ensure that you are well-prepared for the Year 2 SAT!
