Practise Year 6 Addition and Subtraction
With Practise Maths, you can practise your maths skills for Year 6 addition and subtraction. The platform offers both maths exercises and maths games focused on improving your maths fluency. Before you start an exercise, you can select which sums you want to practise. For example, you can work on subtraction problems up to 1000. You can also practise a combination of addition and subtraction problems. Each exercise consists of 15 maths questions. If you improve your score, a green bar will appear, indicating that you’re making good progress!
To make practicing addition and subtraction for Year 6 even more enjoyable, you can choose from various maths games. Before the maths game begins, you can select the types of sums you want to practise. You can choose from six different games. For example, you can play Bouncer, where you jump your way to the top! After the game, you’ll see your score, which you can compare with your peers. Keep practicing to become the best at Bouncer!

Curriculum
Here are some of the expectations from the National Curriculum for Year 6 (ages 10-11):
- You can mentally add, subtract, multiply, and divide large numbers. You should be able to explain how you solved a problem using objects, drawings, mathematical symbols, and words.
- You are expected to solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, often within the same calculation.
- You use rounding to estimate answers.
- In Year 6, you are expected to solve word problems that involve multiple steps.
With Practise Maths, you will primarily improve your maths fluency, which means you'll become faster at solving problems using a range of strategies through exercises and fun games. This will prepare you well for the SAT in Year 6!
